American Business Association of Russian-speaking Professionals (AmBAR) is a non-profit business association of Russian-speaking entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, engineers, lawyers and other professionals with headquarters in Silicon Valley. Started in 2002 as an organization of expatriates from Russia, Ukraine and other FSU countries that are involved in technology businesses in the United States, AmBAR has grown into a unique and the largest network where Russian-speaking innovators and entrepreneurs can exchange ideas and business contacts. Today AmBAR membership base consists of more than 2,500 business professionals.

AmBAR creates a networking platform to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and business contacts between technology entrepreneurs, professionals, and investors. It helps accelerate access to capital for innovative projects with Russian-speaking founders and develop technology partnerships across the globe. Through various seminars and conferences, such as SVOD, AmBAR provides educational programs that help entrepreneurs refine their business plans, and advance their product development and marketing efforts.

SVOD (Silicon Valley Open Doors) Technology Investment Conference is the first and only non-profit annual investment conference that brings together Russian-speaking innovators, venture capital firms and angel investors with their counterparts in the Silicon Valley - prominent venture capital firms, leading technology, business media and the top US technology companies.

SVOD provides an unparalleled opportunity for Russian-speaking entrepreneurs to present their business plans to leading venture capitalists, learn successful venture fundraising practices, and create partnership ties with the Silicon Valley ecosystem.

SVOD attracts over 400 attendees. During the two-day event more than 45 venture capitalists from such acclaimed firms as Alloy Ventures, Asset Management Company, Almaz Capital Partners, Kleiner Perkins, Benchmark Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Canaan Partners, Doll Capital Management, Opus Capital, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Mayfield Fund, Intitutional Venture Partners, North Bridge Venture Partners, Sofinnova Ventures, among many others, as well as angel investors, judge the presentations of 20 high-tech companies. The winner in the business plan competition receives a traditional AmBAR Golden Lock Award.

The program also includes companies' exhibits and keynote addresses. SVOD creates not only the great networking but also educational platform with seminars conducted by leading venture capitalists, Stanford University professors, US lawyers, and other experts in the areas of finance, business development, and general management on creating high technology ventures, developing business plans, structuring deals, and transferring intellectual property.
